Hello - is there a way to remove the check boxes from the message list? - Thanks
-
Nevermind, I see it will be available in 1.9 - thanks

I came in to ask about that too. Good to know, it's the only thing that is bothering me ...

A new 1.8 build, where it's possible to turn off both contacts images *and* checkboxes:

I like the check boxes. It takes less time to select by clicking on them than several long presses. But, I wish their column space was narrower. I think they take up too much space on a small phone screen.

After the first "long press", you only need simple press to select the next message.
Not on my phone.
The first long press selects that message. But, after that, a simple press does not select the next message. It just opens the message pressed.

You need to enable a specific setting:
-> Menu -> Settings -> Message list -> 'Tap anywhere to select'

Thank you.
However, I discovered a better solution. Without enabling
-> Menu -> Settings -> Message list -> 'Tap anywhere to select'
I have the best of both worlds: clicking on the extreme left (where the check boxes used to be) selects the message while clicking in the middle opens the message. Nice.

Guess I'll keep the "tap on the left even if check boxes are turned off".

Yes, it seems to be useful.
