Title: Tap recognition in folder configuration
Post by: Snooty on September 15, 2016, 03:56:28 pm
Hi Kostya,

currently I noticed on my Sony Z5 Compact that in the folder settings it's difficult to access the folder specific push and notification options.

If you have a longer list of folders and you try to hit the gear-wheel the screen is scrolled down*. As you can see in the attached video I do not hit the scroll bar accidentally, but you have to tap the very left side of the gear-wheel to access the folder options. Otherwise your tap is not recognized correctly.

I'm using Android 6.0.1, Aqua Mail 1.6.2.9.

*) of course the issue is the same with a shorter list of folders except the scrolling

If you tap and hold your finger on the scrollbar this circle appears to show at which position in the alphabet you currently are (I do not know if this is a feature from Sony).

In this case it shows that by tapping on the gear-wheel and not on the scrollbar the list is automatically scrolled down to 'C'.

I suspect it is one of the enhancements of the particular phone.
On my phone the "scroll bar" only works as an indicator, i.e. I cannot grab/pull it and scroll.
(Or, maybe that's a feature of the later Android)

I'd expect it may need to wait for Kostya, when he is back next week. (There could be some workaround, or some tweak might be needed.)

Unable to reproduce.

Is it an issue limited to your configuration?

This "C" in the blue circle, what is it? An app you've installed and forgotten or something else?
This "C" is a part of the scroll bar on the right - within AquaMail -: the first letter of the folder name on the top of the folder list - so the user can see the actual position while scrolling through the list.
> see screenshot below with an "D"

However, maybe a special feature from Sony!?
I'm on a Sony Xperia Z3, still with Android 5.1.1

I see what the OP is saying.  Using v1.6.2.9 on my Motorola Moto G running Android 5.1 there seems to be a touch zone conflict with the gear icon and the space to its right, used to show scrolling alignment.  If you carefully tap the gear toward the middle it will usually launch the push/notify options.  But, for me, if I carefully tap on what I believe is the center of the gear it will sometimes launch the options and sometimes the scroll action.

After discovering this I started tapping toward the left edge of the gear.  I think it's very difficult to manage this type of thing on small screens (i.e. 4-5" phones).

Yes it is fast scroll. Had no idea its touch margin was so wide.

I'll see if there is a way to reduce that, or to widen the gear icon's touch zone.

Meanwhile, long pressing a folder does same thing, brings up the folder's options.

Thanks a lot!

That's a good alternative - didn't know that.

Think I managed to make it a little better...
