Title: Smart Folders switched to "Only unread" without my permission
Post by: flaxton on September 11, 2016, 07:43:16 pm
I've been using AquaMail Pro for many years now. I'm using AquaMail 1.6.2.9 on Android 5.0 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

OK, so a client contacted me this week, wondering why I had not responded to her email two days prior. I could not find it in AquaMail, so I checked on my Mac and sure enough, there it was.

I also noticed that this morning there was light email traffic in my Smart Folder in AquaMail, which is odd. Even though this is Sunday, I have jobs that run every day on my servers, and I wasn't seeing them. Same thing - check on the Mac and there they are.

I poked around in AquaMail, went to the individual mailbox and there they are. But they aren't showing in Smart Folder.

Long and short of it, somehow Smart Folder had somehow switched to "Only unread" - which I would *never* set myself.

I don't recall reading that message, but you know that when using multiple email programs and platforms like I do, some will mark a message read automatically, when it pops to the top of a list. So even though it isn't actually "read", it can get marked as "read" by an email program.

I don't know exactly how this happened, to change the setting for Smart Folders, but I know I did not do this. So, if an update to AquaMail did this - don't do that again! If you are going to default, always default to showing all messages!

This caused me heartburn this week, made me look bad to my customer. I was actually ready to ditch AquaMail, because since I have many email accounts, having a combined view like Smart Folder is essential for me. I can't use an email program if it randomly hides my email messages.

So think very carefully when changing or setting default settings.   :-\

Thanks!

Fred

Yes the default is and always was "1 day" (and any unread messages that are synced into the app).
