Is there any way to turn off the grey lines separating text, like in the folder list, and also in settings? It makes it look like it was written over lined notebook paper and is particularly annoying when using the dark theme.
-
As far as I know the horizontal separator lines in the settings menu are 'hard coded'. There is no setting available to customize the layout of the app's setting items.

Okay, thanks. They didn't use to show up in the folders window until recently, so I had hoped turning them off was an option. I didn't know why, but they just seriously irritate me. :(

Your screenshot has the dark theme -- which is based on native the "Holo" theme (originally appeared in Android 4.0).
Lines (list dividers) *are* part of this theme.
Now the default "material" theme, on 5.0 and above, is based on the native "Material" theme, and there are no dividers.

I've got it on the light Material theme and still have dividers, both in settings and in account / message list views. Am I missing something?

The *settings screens* still use some Android 3.0 functions and so have dividers. Still need to be updated.
Account lists and message list have dividers too, I think removing dividers would make them less readable.
So the only place that I can think of right now which has no dividers on 5.0 + material theme is -- the popup menus. This is standard system styling for 5.0 + material.

Thanks for the answer. Personally would prefer them much lighter, but that would probably not suit everyone.
Would be nice to have an opinion to either turn them on and off, or adjust their colour in the respective customization settings.
Anyway, not really a 'must have'

With the latest dev-Build 1.6.4-dev1.8 you will find a new option in Settings > Message list > turn off dividers (between messages). You can download this version right here:

Thanks. Works fine.
Maybe getting greedy here, but can the option be extended to account list also?

Yes, meant a separate option for message list and separate for account list.

Quote from the developers (internal) "Change log" - dev-build 1.6.4-dev1.8 -:
Tried removing dividers in material for 4.*, didn't like it (needs dividers removed in a bunch more places)
+ Settings -> message list -> can turn off dividers (between messages)
Therefore, we should just wait a little... 8)

Yep.
Re: a separate option for message list and separate for account list
I've also removed dividers from a bunch of places -- including the account list and also the navigation drawer -- if using the Material (default) theme on Android 5.0+.
There is no setting for this, I don't think one is needed, but we'll see...
Personally I think it takes some getting used to, looks jarring at first, but after an hour or two it becomes completely natural.
Re: Tried removing dividers in material for 4.*, didn't like it (needs dividers removed in a bunch more places)
This refers to Android 4.0 - 4.4 inclusive.
The setting for "dividers in message list" is there, but the other part (no dividers in material theme on account list screen and nav drawer) will not be.
-
Just saw the dividers removed from the navigation pane and also the list of folders when expanding an account in account list. Looks really nice.
But the lines between accounts names are still there on my system at least. Is that by design?
I have version 1.6.4 Dev 1.8 and am on Material Design theme. OS is 6.0.1.
Re dev comment that no separate option is needed for account list. Yes, makes sense and perfectly okay with me.

@Paris Geek
See attached screenshot (Android 5.1.1)
• No dividers between Folders
• Dividers between Account names
Just to show what arbit mentioned in his last post - since for me it's absolutely okay.

Here's a screenshot.

Yes, there are still dividers between accounts.
I think there should be, it'll make more sense if you expand an account or two.
