hi, new member here :)
dont know if this has been discussed before, just want to let know that if you updated the outlook.com email (it became outlook mail, you can access it via outlook.live.com/owa), the imap idle (push) is available and working perfectly (with scheduled sync turned off both in app and in account). you can even access it via EWS.
i think Microsoft is kind :D the update is supposedly for all emails (till june iirc) but you can force it to update (google it how)
basically what i need in mobile mail client is push and identity/alias (as i forward all my mail accounts to outlook) so i was hesitate with aquamail cause lots are saying that outlook.com doesnt have imap idle, and ews doesnt have push in aquamail. Maildr**d (says) it has push for ews (dunno how though, i dont think it uses cloud for ews push), but sometimes i still got delayed messages when i was using it.
so i think the description in play store can be changed as updgraded/new outlook.com/hotmail has imap idle. :D
thanks.

that's an information :)
here:
blogs[dot]office[dot]com/2016/02/17/outlook-com-out-of-preview-and-better-than-ever/
and
www[dot]slipstick[dot]com/outlook/outlookcom/first-look-outlook-com-on-office-365/
well, i dont know about hotmail though :D but i think it should be upgraded too (or not? :) )
so as long as you can access the free Microsoft email from outlook.live.com/owa , it has imap idle (push) and ews.
thanks.

@Paris Geek:
Why are you asking me?
As long as Hotmail supports IMAP IDLE, it'll just work, same as it does with dozens and dozens of mail providers and servers.
... but I just added my test @hotmail account into AquaMail, as IMAP, and there is no IDLE capability.

Kostya:
My understanding that the @hotmail account has to be opted-in/moved to outlook.com where IDLE capability is enabled (according to the information in the links provided by the OP).

Oh I see.
Just went there and pressed the "I want in" button.
From my perspective, as long as a mail server, any mail server, supports the IDLE extension to IMAP, it should just work.
-
Mine does too now.
The server is still very slow, hopefully they'll be improving this. But IMAP IDLE is there.
Cool, I added this to the FAQ.
-
... and the description for the Play Store needs to be updated too.
-
Ah, good point.

Done:
IMAP push mail (instant incoming email delivery) for those servers that support the IDLE extension (Gmail, GMX, AOL… not supported by Yahoo, Hotmail is now rolling this out gradually, please see the FAQ on AquaMail web site).
