Title: How to setup UTF8 to be always used while composing a message?
Post by: anatoly@tkach.me on March 16, 2016, 06:21:15 pm
When I send out cyrillic text many recepients complain that they see garbled text. It looks like UTF8 is not used by default while sending.  Please advise on hiw to set it to be used as a default encoding fo cyrillic.

I don't have it set to UTF-8, but whenever I have 8-bit characters in the message, Aquamail automagically sets charset="UTF-8". Otherwise, for 7-bit text, it is set to charset="us-ascii". I am not even sure if Aquamail has any configurable option to set that.

The app picks either a locale-specific charset (windows-1251 for Russian) if it works, otherwise it goes to full UTF-8.

Haven't had any issues with it, can you send me a test message to kmansoft / gmail?
