Assume I go into an account, then open "Options and folders", then "Account options" then there is an option
IMAP Push= OFF (unchecked)
I guess that means "IMAP poll" only is the active access method.
But what is the frequency of the poll requests?
If I want to setup e.g. every 45 minutes. Where can I setup this?
Or does IMAP poll mean only manually (by clicking the "refresh" icon)?

Peter,
There are three ways how messages can be synced:
1. Automated sync initiated by Aquamail:
(a) Scheduled background sync (where you set up mail check interval)
and optionally
(b) When certain type of connectivity appears (e.g. Wi-Fi. - there are a few options that configure that.)
2. PUSH (aka "IDLE") - where the connection is maintained open with the server (this uses more battery and data, but delivers message immediately after it arrives to the server.)
3. Manual check (you can click on the "rotating wheel" icon for checking all accounts, individual account, or, when you are in the message-view list, pull down at the top - to sync the particular folder.
Please refer to the FAQ:
* How can I specify my own mail check interval?
Most of the questions you are asking are already covered in that FAQ. So, take some time and read it, you'll find plenty of useful information.

Ok, thank you one more related question:
There are 2 "Scheduled Sync" options. When I go to
1.) App Settings--->Mail, receiving--->Scheduled Sync
and
2.) Account options--->Options and folders--->Account Options--->Scheduled Sync
What if one of the is enabled and the other not?
If the "Scheduled sync" option in account is intended to always overrides the general App-wide "Scheduled sync" then the text left of it in Account options is misleading.
It says "Scheduled sync" for this account is ONLY possible if App-Scheduled Sync is ON.
That in turn would means If App-"Scheduled-Sync"=OFF and Account-"Scheduled-Sync"=ON it will not be checking and NO override took place.
Better would be a 3-state-option:
- Use default general App-wide "Scheduled-Sync" setting
- Enabled "Scheduled Sync" regardless of the general App-wide "Scheduled-sync"
- Disable "Scheduled Sync" regardless of the general App-wide "Scheduled-sync"

The app level setting is the "master kill switch" -- if it's off, then the account level settings won't even be considered.
It's for people who travel (roaming), etc. Same with the app level "push" setting.
