Title: How do I send from an SMTP server that I don't want to check POP/IMAP with?
Post by: WiFied on December 21, 2015, 06:39:06 am
I think that this is beyond wanting to use an identity in AquaMail.
I don't just want to change the "sent-from" or "reply-to" address.
I want to actually use a second SMTP server as my default server to send out all of the new email, and all email that I reply to via Aquamail.
But I do not want to check mail or download any email from this server.
So, I can set up an account for this, but how do I prevent it from downloading email, and only allow it to send out email.
I will also have another Exchange server account on the phone that will bring in all of my incoming email.
I'd like to default to replying to all email from the SMTP server.
Thanks for any help that you can be.

So, you want to receive e-mail via IMAP (?) from one server, but send via SMTP via a different server. Is this right?
Then, it is not a problem. When setting up your account in Aquamail, you just choose "manual", and manually write information for the IMAP and SMTP (different) servers in there.

(BTW, IIRC, identities have a setting for alternative SMTP servers!)

However, you mentioned that you are receiving e-mail from an exchange server... If you are connecting to it via EWS (Exchange Web Services), - I believe, the situation is different. AFAIK, with EWS, you don't have a separate SMTP server. Not having first experience with the exchange server settings, - I cannot tell you if there is a workaround for your problem. Kostya (or someone else) might be able to help for that situation.

Paris - thanks for your help! Worked perfectly. Yes, this is a fringe case, but it's working exactly like I need it to.
