Title: 1.6.0-14-dev5.2
Post by: Kostya Vasilyev on November 29, 2015, 01:16:04 am
http://www.aqua-mail.com/download/AquaMail-market-1.6.0-14-dev5.2.apk

---

+ Fixed message list sort when conversations are off.

Not in Play, even as "beta".

Candidate for starting "general availability" release for everyone tomorrow, "staged" (gradual) as usual.

---

+ Исправил сортировку списка сообщений когда "цепочки" отключены.

Не в Play, даже не как "бета".

Надеюсь завтра начать "выкатывание" в Play для всех, как обычно постепенно (начиная с небольшого количества устройств).

Hi Kostya,
In two latest builds (1.6.0-14-dev5 and 1.6.0-14-dev5.2), bold account names and bold unread messages don't appear bold. You seem to have broken something.
Please look into this.

On Android 5.0+, when you enable "bold account names", the app uses a "medium weight" font, which is new in this Android version and is lighter than "bold" (which in turn looks very heavy).

Please see the attachment.

If you're seeing something different -- напиши на kmansoft / gmail и приложи скрин и подробности про устройство.

Been playing with intra-message swiping within conversations and may have found a potential bug:

- if the number of messages within a conversation >3 only the first three messages are accessible via swiping. Additional swipes move to a different message thread
- available buttons sometimes revert to default settings when swiping between messages. For example, I have 'Move to Archive', 'Move to Folder' and 'Share' buttons defined. They always appear on the first message within a conversation but come and go on other messages (most commonly disappearing on outgoing items). The full suite of buttons do show when accessing the same message from the 'All Mail' or 'Sent' folders.

I have not attempted to rebuild the conversation index to preserve the existing situation should some type of log be helpful.

Re: - if the number of messages within a conversation >3 only the first three messages are accessible via swiping

Yes. App settings -> conversations -> turn off "smart swiping".

Re: available buttons sometimes revert to default settings when swiping between messages

There is no archive or move to spam for sent messages, and one of the reply buttons is different (replaced by "edit as new").

Ok - I feel like an idiot. Can't find the "smart swiping" option anywhere. Looked where you indicated and in other categories as well. I know this is going to hurt when you point out the obvious (sorry!) ...

Yes. I recognize some actions are not available depending on message type and location. But others (eg: share) are not showing up on some messages in conversations. I can still access all applicable options via the overflow menu so no big deal.

Re: Can't find the "smart swiping" option anywhere

I'm the idiot here :) It's under "message view" (scroll down to "navigation").

Maybe I should move it under "conversations".

Re: icons

I sounds like maybe it's caused by some icons not fitting in -- the amount of space is limited -- and then they're pushed into the overflow.

Found it (thought I looked there) - works! Option could logically live in both places it might be easier to find under conversations.

Good thought on fit but not applicable in my case; plenty of unused real estate. I normally have 6 icons showing (plus expand and overflow) which drops to 4 when share and others disappear. Again, no big deal as functions are still available via overflow. I only noticed due to the rapidly shifting buttons when swiping between messages in a conversation. I wouldn't have even brought it up if not for the development build.

If you have a reproducible scenario, let me know. So far, I wasn't able to reproduce (on a phone sized device).

Reproducible for me on two devices (different mfgs/sizes/resolutions) so does not appear to be device/rom specific. I want to do some more testing to make sure I can provide a realistic scenario that you can reproduce. Early indications suggest sensitivity to the number of messages in a conversation but I need to confirm. Out the door now...will post update later.

Are these devices both tablets?

Kostya,  sorry for repeatiing this suggestion: an online map of the menues/configuration options would be really helpful for everybody. This example shows that even you can not remember it anymore.
Also, there is a fairly large portion of questions on this forum is "where do I find such  and such optoon?"

As I suggested before, probably xml-based map would be easier to maintain.
BTW, potentially, it would also allow some brief explanations for less-then-obvious options, such as this option. (I had to ask you what it meant two weeks ago.)

I am not insisting,  just reminding. :)

No - one is a phone (small), the other a 7" tablet.

Phonoma is most easily observed by viewing the same message under 'sent' and 'all mail' folders. Note the difference in custom (applicable) buttons, eg: 'share' menu. Turns out it has nothing to do with conversations.

The G Play purpose the update, but if I install it, the beta fails to overwrite... I'm beta again.

Which version do you see in G Play Store?
1.6.0.0 (stable) or 1.6.0-14-dev5.2 (beta)

Stable, my question is, must we consider beta again?

Re: the beta fails to overwrite

Google Play support once claimed that a staged release version is supposed to overwrite beta versions.

How exactly does it fail, any error messages, or just "not installed"?

... mmh
No problem on my side: overwriting the existing beta 1.6.0-14-dev5.2 with new stable version 1.6.0.0 from Google Play Store without any problems.

Re: Stable, my question is, must we consider beta again

1.6.0 is now "stable", and is *supposed to* overwrite any "beta" versions.

Must be Google Play magic...

From beta you can update to stable from G Play, but from stable you cannot install the beta, message is NOT INSTALLED

Yes, this is correct. "beta" is a step backwards and Android won't let you do that.

Why do you want to go back?

I suppose the beta will go with improvements, my opinion is if I install the stable, future beta are not installable without to removing the stable. Or is the future beta installable?

Thanks

"beta" is done, all over, "finita la commedia" for 1.6.0.

There will not be any further "beta" 1.6.0 updates.

Version 1.6.0 is now "stable", I've started the process of publishing it (for all users, gradual) and that's where I will be fixing bugs...

...until there is new stuff for 1.6.1 (or 1.7 or 2.0), at which point there will be:

- a forum version first
- and after some time, a "beta" version
- and when it's ready for everyone -- a "stable" version again

... ad infinitum, ad nauseum, rinse, repeat
