Title: How to download more messages to Inbox on new device?
Post by: ThomasN on October 26, 2015, 02:07:02 pm
Hi,
I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 and loaded AquaMail (1.5.9.14) and I only get a limited number of messages in my inbox. No problem until I search for older ones, then it won't find it. If I do the same search on my phone (same AquaMail version) no problem. How to make it see all?

I am not sure how you search. If you search in the folder view, and if the account is set as IMAP or EWS, then Aquamail will search older messages on the server.

That"a regarding the search.

As for the subject of your post, if you want to see more messages in a folder, while at the bottom of the message list, try to scroll farther and it will load more messages.
This works with IMAP and probably EWS.

"only get a limited number of messages in my inbox"

Yes, that's exactly how the app works -- it syncs a limited number of recent messages, not all of them (what if it's a hundred K or more?)

The default is 25 - 50 most recent messages per folder.

To change:

Long press the account -> options and folders -> account options -> increase "Messages to sync".

The larger the value, the more work the app will have to do every time it checks mail.

So please be reasonable and try 100 or 250, don't jump to "thousands" right away.

ok thanks - great help from StR with the link to the two ways of searching. The solution to start the search in the message view in order to include all messages on the server in the search was not obvious when on a tablet, since you always see the messages in both views. On the phone this was never an issue, here you normally always search in the msg view anyway.
