Use the Email app "Nine"....has no issues with Hotmail servers and in my opinion is better than Aqua mail. Can't wait indefinitely for Aqua mail to fix the bugs....obviously not a MS issue because "Nine" uses IMAP and works perfectly........

Wrong on two counts.

1 - Nine has ActiveSync and most likely uses that, and not IMAP, to connect to Hotmail.

2 - This issues are not specific to AquaMail.

3 - It's up to MS to fix, I can't do anything as "it takes two to tango".

Oh, that was three not two, sorry I can't count :)

It would be better for everyone if you used your energy and time on MS's support forums -- but then their support forums are useless, most of the time they just go "sir, are you using the right settings".

My bad!....hope MS gets the issues resolved with IMAP. If Aqua mail supported ActiveSync with IMAP it would probably be the very best Email App. If that can happen.....

Re-reading my message, I apologize if I over-reacted. My bad.

There is nothing wrong with IMAP itself -- when it works, and that's most of the time, with most mail services.

But when it's broken at some particular mail service, at some particular time -- then it's everyone's loss, mine, and users' alike.

I do understand that you need things to work, now, and that ActiveSync provides a viable solution, now.

Hopefully the Hotmail team notices and fixes these issues, and then you'll be able to go back to AquaMail if you still want to.

Last time Hotmail's IMAP broke, mid-summer, was when they rolled out previews for image attachments in Outlook.com web mail (these images couldn't download over IMAP, no idea why it was related) -- and this was fixed after about a week, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh, and I saw a message or two about how "this started since the recent Outlook.com web mail update", but I don't use it regularly so not sure what they changed this time.

Thanks Kostya, I hope Microsoft gets things fixed on their end. I haven't uninstalled Aqua mail....just using the other App until notifications to return to normal...Aqua mail is too good to just switch because of
some temporary issues caused by Hotmail servers. I appreciate your response!

Issue now confirmed by Microsoft:

https://portal.office.com/servicestatus

Quote
Current Status: Engineers are continuing to perform a detailed investigation across the network infrastructure in order to identify remediation options for the intermittent IMAP connectivity issues.

User Experience: Users connecting to the service with devices that use IMAP may be experiencing intermittent errors and delays when synchronizing email.

Incident Start Time: Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at 4:00 PM UTC

Next Update by: Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 11:00 PM UTC

And reported in K9 Mail (no surprise, it's IMAP too):

I'm impressed about Microsoft's support people. Much more responsive than Yahoo's "support" and Google developers...  8)

I guess my problem falls into this topic. "One of my 2 hotmail accounts works fine with Aquamail. The other has started throwing this at me when I try to sync, after working just fine previously:
"Error synchronizing mail: Mail folder is missing on the server"
I have removed and re-added the problem email account several times in AquaMail to no avail.
Any other advice? Am I doing something wrong ? Is it a something within my hotmail account settings?

There may be some lingering issues with Hotmail after the "outage" -- and since they fixed the big one, these smaller ones (affecting only some accounts) are probably going unnoticed.

Nothing to do with AquaMail or your account settings there.

If you like, feel free to capture the issue in the app's debug log (below) and send it to me -- I'll be able to tell you what's wrong so you can contact MS support.
