I'm using AquaMail to access my Microsoft Office365 account. I can receive messages but not send them. What am I doing wrong?

You haven't provided much information about what's happening.
From your description, the problem is with your SMTP settings.
Check what they should be.
Also, there were a few recent threads on Office365 on this forum. Check them out (or search the forum for Office365).

Thanks for this. I just used the default settings. So (1), I don't know how to move beyond the default settings (and going via "settings" doesn't offer me any options for changing them) and (2) nothing came up when I set the account up about my STMP settings? They didn't even feature when I set up the default email app on my phone (which has subsequently frozen, which is why I'm looking for an alternative). But it's *very* helpful that there's a thread about Office365 on this forum, so I'm grateful for your suggestion that I pursue that.
Thanks,
Nik.

Sorry for double posting just now.
If I try to send a message I get …
Error sending outgoing messages:
Error submitting mail:
ErrorSendAsDenied
I'm using EWS to get into the account.

Hi,
You will be able to change your account configuration settings also in AquaMail:
> go to Account list view (app's main window) > long press on Account name (your Office365 account) > Account setup > press the button "MANUAL" instead of "NEXT" > than go carefully through all settings by tapping on the "NEXT" buttons.

Exchange doesn't use SMTP, there is one server (which speaks EWS) to handle both receiving and sending.
The actual error is ErrorSendAsDenied.
This comes from the Office 365 server.
Not entirely unheard of for Exchange accounts, actually (self-hosted or 365).
The server thinks that the account (identified by the account's email you see if you long press the account in AquaMail's main window and choose Account setup) doesn't have the permission to send messages when logged in the way it is.
"When logged in the way it is" -- long press the account in AquaMail's main window (account list) -> account setup -> press Manual to see how you have AquaMail logging into Office 365.
So these are two adjoining screens in Aqua's "account setup" flow.
If there is a mismatch (typo???), then you will want to try making them match.

Oops, mea culpa.
PS. Welcome back, Kostya, we missed you here.
Hope everything is fine.
