Title: Pop3 mail doesn't delete. Any ideas?
Post by: Evan@Evan-m-Jones.org on August 29, 2015, 11:48:47 pm
OK, account mail (pop3) set to “Move to Deleted folder first”.  Folder is purged on exit. Simples.

But the mail remains on the server.....

Anyone any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

Evan

Just one thought: does the Deleted folder get emptied in AquaMail (or appear to?), when you come back into the app?

If not, then please be sure to close AquaMail with Back, not Home (by Android convention, Home is like "minimizing" in Windows).

If it does and yet the messages don't get deleted from the server:

Please capture the issue in the app's debug log (see link below), with "raw session data" enabled.

Start with sending yourself a test message, checking mail in AquaMail (so the log captures how the message is received), then move to deleted, then exit letting the folder get emptied.

Send to kmansoft / gmail and I'll take a look.

I can also confirm same behaviour,  when I had few accounts as POP3. Sometimes it deleted on server, sometimes no. I changed to IMAP and now the oddity never happens. However, now I use only IMAP instead of POP3, so I can not log the issue.
I guess it's server caused, because same thing was present even on a Windows PC with Firetrust MailWasher and POP3 account.
