Title: The content of mail logs, interpreted?
Post by: ladyicculus on July 24, 2015, 04:54:06 am
Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew/knows what to expect when looking over AquaMail logs. Being freshly out of a perfect storm of identity theft, I feel as though I'm entitled to some cyber-paranoia :)

Words, phrases, code, etc. that would be considered normal (or abnormal) in scrolling through a daily log would be great.

Thanks to any and all who can help.

Sincerely,
The Paranoid Cat Lady

"what to expect when looking over AquaMail logs"

Normally, and by default, logging is disabled completely.

It's a feature that's only used for *remote* diagnostics when something goes wrong.

Works much better than asking a user to "just bring the phone over".

Other than that, sorry, I didn't understand your question at all...

AquaMail does not send its log file anywhere, and it's disabled unless enabled by the user.

There is one exception, a different kind of log, the crash postmortem, called log-AquaMail-crash.txt.

This one is recorded automatically, if the app crashes. Does not contain the identities of your email accounts, much less actual message text or passwords. Does not get sent / uploaded anywhere automatically either.
