Title: Smart Folder to show ALL unread?
Post by: waynesworld937 on July 05, 2015, 03:18:24 pm
Can I set up the Smart Folder, or an UNREAD folder, to show all unread messages in all folders? And can I change the period of viewing until it is marked as read?

Alternatively, or as well, if there is a new email in a folder (moved by a rule),  could that folder be shown in the folder list?

I've had a go at doing this and of course it leaves a long list of folders. Very untidy. Is there a way to hide these after I've set this up?

Well, no, it's all tied together...

The idea is that you set "to sync" only those folders you most care about on the mobile device, and leave the less important ones without it, to open "as needed".

If the Feature Requests forum was open, I would ask for this.

I would the option in the Smart Folder to show...
-Ticked (user selected) and therefore automatically synced, sub folders that are
-Read or unread (user selectable)
-For a given age, (again, user selectable). Ie. 2 days and marked as read.

before they drop out of the Smart folder

Unless they are starred in which case they stay indefinitely.

Can you please explain your needs more specific:
    a) ticked (user selected)
where and what exactly you want to tick.
     b)  which folders do you want to synchronize?
     c)  subfolders: are you talking about IMAP or / Exchange accounts?

You can use the option "mark read/unread" by using the already existing icon in the action bar - or by defining the corresponding swipe action

You are already able to define which messages shall be shown in the Smart Folder:
Settings > Smart Folder > Smart Folder time period > choose one of the offered options.
(see attached screenshot)

...
Unless they are starred in which case they stay indefinitely.
Furthermore you are able to specify that starred messages should be always shown in the Smart Folder - independently which time period you have chosen
