Title: Airplane mode?
Post by: BigLisy on April 03, 2015, 06:07:11 pm
I keep my tablet (Galaxy Tab S 10.5) always on airplane mode - as I didn't put a sim in it.

Sometimes (yes, sometimes, lol) when scrolling down the message list, instead of "Load more messages", I get "Airplane mode", and I won't be able to load more messages even if I click on it, or try to scroll further.

Why would airplane mode mess with that? I'm still normally connected to a wifi connection.

Also bonus question: I set my tablet to sync 15 messages, but it seems to load 50 when opening the app. Any reason for that?

Yes, airplane mode is for people on airplanes.... And the app automagically shows all loaded messages, not the up-to-date ones ("messages to sync").

Any reason you have the device in airplane mode?

It really isn't necessary, I've a couple of tablets here with 1) SIM slots 2) no SIM cards 3) connected to WiFi 4) not in airplane mode, and they work just fine.

I'm currently living in Australia for a year, so I bought an Australian sim that I put on the phone, and use the Italian one on the tablet. If I don't use airplane mode, the signal receiving rays up battery pretty heavily. And if the wifi were to fail, it would fall back on roaming, making me pay 5$ per Mb.

But anyway I understand, that makes sense.
