I've been using Aquamail Pro for almost one year now and really like it. However I have a problem with the font type at the moment. In the old version I used last year with my old mobile phone, the email appears with the correct font that I want which is Arial within the mobile phone as well as within my corporate email (in the Sent items) which is MS Outlook software on my PC in the office. I need Arial font on all of my emails because that's the standard required font for email in my company. I know that Aquamail doesn't have a setting where I can specify Arial as the standard font but somehow it worked correctly last year in the old version. Only in a few cases where I replied to some emails that my email content wasn't in Arial font and that's probably because the original email that I replied to didn't use Arial for its content.
Earlier this year I changed to a new mobile phone and installed the latest Aquamail version and now all of my emails sent from Aquamail are in Times New Roman font which isn't desirable. I can still set the font colour and size as before, only the font type isn't correct.
Do you know why this happened and is there anyway for me to send email from Aquamail on my mobile in Arial font?
Thanks.

>> all of my emails sent from Aquamail are in Times New Roman
On the receiving side? Or as shown in Aqua's "Sent" folder?
Please check app settings -> composing and sending -> rich text font family, and make sure to choose "Sans Serif".
If that doesn't help, feel free to send me a test message, kmansoft / at sign / gmail.
-
It was on the receiving side I meant. I tried the "Sans Serif" option and it seems to work fine so far. Thanks a lot.
-
This change in settings works for me too - perfect, thanks! This was driving me nuts.

Hi,
i like Aqua mail and undoubtedly it's the best android mail app.
i recently switched to new phone. Facing a problem in setting up the corporate signature. We use Arial font size 11.
i figured out that Sans Serif is right font.
BUT I'M NOT ABLE TO GET FONT SIZE 11. The "NORMAL" type font size on aqua mail is 12. But I need 11.
PLEASE HELP.
-
Oh my.
And I suppose if someone uses 12pt and not 11pt, the Company's Corporate Standards Department will take that unlucky person out back and shoot them in the head.
Because that Would Cast A Bad Shadow On The Company's Image, and so Will Not Be Tolerated.
App settings -> composing and sending -> font size (when sending) -> has 10pt, 11pt, 12pt, and some other popular values (sorry, no "99pt").
Just curious -- what mobile mail app do THEY recommend to The Company's employees? Or is using Android for email Not Allowed?

You will find this option in app settings -> composing and sending -> rich text font size (when sending) > Set to 11pt
> see attached screenshots

Hey look, no "13pt".

Hey look, no "13pt".
No 13pt, oh my gosh! ::)
-
Really, how can anyone use a mail app that doesn't offer 13pt font size.
And where is that "Calibri" font? Missing too?
Scandalous, absolutely scandalous.

Kostya :
We better have to go to bed now. 8) :)

And I should not respond on the forum when I'm drunk.

Thanks Kostya & Mikeone !
One more query. Is it possible to use 2 different font sizes in email signature ?
-
Yes it is.
Select some text and change its size. Same as in any text editor.

Hi,
I am using Aquamail too many days and with that settings, the outgoning mails are sent in "Arial" font when it is retreaved by Microsoft Outlook 2013.
The default font in Outlook 2013 is "Calibri", is there a possibilty to send mails with this font?
Thanks, regards.
-
Font typeface options are "generic": sans, serif, mono.
They're encoded like this:
public static final String HTML_FONT_FAMILY_SANS = "font-family: Arial, Myriad, 'Liberation Sans', sans-serif;";
public static final String HTML_FONT_FAMILY_SERIF = "font-family: 'Times New Roman', Times, 'Liberation Serif', serif;";
public static final String HTML_FONT_FAMILY_MONO = "font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, 'Liberation Mono', monospace;";
with specific font mappings for Windows, Mac and Linux.
I could make the change to Calibri, but then someone would complain about "where did Arial go"?
-
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I think you can add a fourth option, to have "Calibri" font... and i think that "Calibri" is so important because it makes Aqua Mail near Microsoft Outlook users...
-
... and what about "Lucida Sans Unicode" which is used by my company...?
No Kostya, just a joke from my side 8) 8)
-
Hi All,
May I also register a vote for Calibri? Also think it makes email appear like Microsoft Outlook 2010.
-

"Mommy, mommy, look! It looks like my poopoo!.."
::)
Edited: @Sorry, mlm, I just couldn't resist.
-
We want "Calibri", please... ;)
-
We want "Calibri", please... ;)
As mentioned by Kostya in his post above for the (already implemented) FONT_FAMILY_SANS "Arial" is more common than "Calibri".
-
OK.
But i ask for a 4th choice to add "Calibri".
Regards,
-
OK.
But i ask for a 4th choice to add "Calibri".
Regards,
Please reread Kostya's post carefully.
There are only 3 (three) " generic" Font typeface options available: sans, serif, mono.
Sans = Arial
Serif = Times New Roman
Mono = Courier
Nothing else...

I'm just curious --
I understand that some companies have a "policy" -- all corporate email, even internal, has to be in Calibri 11pt (or you get thrown off a tall building).
Here is my question:
What does this policy say about mobile mail apps then?
If even Microsoft's own Outlook (nee Accompli) doesn't have any formatting capabilities?
"No mobile mail apps ever", is that what the policymakers are saying?
Just curiosity, nothing else...
-
Hi,
The answer is so simple, we want "Calibri", to be more standard with Microsoft and with our "Standard" mail company.
Because if we use "Calibri" in Aquamail, no one will see that our mail is sent from a mobile, but when reading mail with "Calibri", everybody will think that this is a normal mail from Microsoff Outlook in Windows.
Thanks for understand.
-

Curiousier and curiousier.
And the reason for hiding that a message was sent from a mobile mail app is --
- Because there is a corporate policy prohibiting the use of mobile mail apps?
What if you get fired for breaking this policy?
- Or you don't want people outside the company to know?
Because they'll think "oh, those guys respond to mail on mobile devices, clearly they're not worthy of us doing business with them"?
---
Anyway, I find the whole thing funny and sad at the same time, sorry!

Hi Kostya,
i found your very good app looking for an email app that looks like MS Outlook.
Anyway i noticed that some things could be improved, so i would try to write you my ideas.
- In quoting header format i set MS Outlook style, but i noticed the format is not like latest outlook 2013/2016. Here the photo:
It is in italian language. First block is MS outlook 2013/2016. Second block is aquamail.
What i mean is: line separator is different, subject should be latest, "Date" field should be "Sent", date formatting is different, and there is no alignment in Outllook.
I think these changes could be simple for you, or at least i hope - Calibri font: i know you can't include this font in your app for licensing issue, and i know you can't change default three types. My idea would be add a four option "Custom font", maybe text field, so people can write each font they want. Obviously we will have to install it by ourself to have it working. Maybe you can use internally a default (hidden to us), so if we write wrong name all is working anyway
- default color font in sending: we can set font type, we can set font size, it would be great we can even set default font color when sending. Maybe a field as #xxxxxx would be great and working for any needs
I'm a sw developer too, and i know getting a lot of requests from our customers is frustrating, but sometime accepting these requests is a good thing for both.
Believe me that the above changes would make a lot of people happy, that would be a great value for your app, even for monetizing more. I would buy it for sure, even more of the actual price, and I can be sure that like me there are a lot of other people looking for an email app "MS Outlook desktop" style.
Your app will better than MS Outlook app itself.
I hope you can take into consideration my post.
Thank you.

@Kostya,
To avoid users' anger (those who do not use outlook 2006 and they'll consider that new build destroyed their app), please add a third choice "like Outlook 2006" and leave the two current ones :)
Good idea. Maybe better add a third option "like Outlook 2013+", so current user's configs can be leaved untouched.

To avoid user anger, I'm just not going to do anything.
It's "close enough", and trying to mimic Outlook *exactly* or *as close as possible*, and going as far as trying to match *specific versions* is *ridiculous*.
If there are "corporate standards" requiring the use of Outlook and Outlook only -- then one should not be using AquaMail at all (or K9 Mail, or Gmail, or Mail Droid, etc).
If it's to mask the fact that one is "not at his/her desk" -- some silly corporate policy again?
Bottom line, the way I see it:
Either it's "acceptable" (by such corporate policies, etc.) to be working at a Starbucks, and to be using a mobile mail app -- or it's not.
And if it's not, well, what do I have to do with it?
-
Hi Kostya,
first of all thank you for your answer.
Let me say, not that offend you, what it is *ridicolous* here is that you're linking these requests to the fact that someone wants to hide he is not at its desk! :)
Hey, i'm not a employee... i simply would get a mobile app that formats emails like my favorite desktop app. Is it really difficult to believe?!
So, looking for a such mobile app i found aquamail have "like MS Outlook" option in sending. I say "Great!", but i found that its formatting is 10 years old :/ So i joined in this forum and i kindly asked you: "Hey mate, your great app has option "MS Outollok" non working good, it is 10years old, could you improve it?".
I'm sure any other app developers that sell an app would be grateful and thankful that an user would buy his app and join in his forum to say this and try to improve the app. I'm sure of this! Let me say i'm surprised to see an app's vendor ignoring and accusing people asking for some improvements! :o
Beside your strange behavior, i would anyway ask you about the technical reasons you don't want accept the 3 improvements i propose you.
- they would take you 2 max 3 days of work. Not months of work.
- Allow to choose "MS outlook" style is your choice. But this option is not working, that format is not MS outlook style. And you know, it's not closest to it! Maybe it's closest to outlook 2006, that is 10 years old application!
- create a fully customizable app was your winning strategy: aqual mail is loved because it is really customizable! So, why you don't want to continue in this way? customizing font family and font color is in the filosofy of your app. Why you don't want? There are a lot of useless choice of customizable in your app, imho, but these two i'm asking for, would be really useful for a lot of people! But i don't know for what reason... you don't want to add! let me say, it is very "strange"!
Anyway, the app is your, the life is your and i can't force you to accept your customer's desires.
I can only advice you to ALWAYS thankful your customers, because without them, you would not be today where you are.
Best regards and thanks anyway.

Not every user (or even paying customer) suggestion needs to be implemented.
This would be insane.
---
Re: linking to "hiding on the desk" -- sorry if this is not your case, but in the past, that was the use case as explained by other users.
"Like Outlook" is not "Exactly like Outlook, and hey, here is a setting for your favorite Outlook flavor, oh, and how about Outlook for Mac?"
It's "like" Outlook.
Similar. "Close enough".
Not "exact".
-
Hi Kostya,
Aqua Mail is an excellent application and the fact that it is very customizable convince me to become a paying customer and to encourage support from developer.
It would be great if you’ll add improvements to “MS outlook” style and add more fonts (calibri included).
Hope you will reconsider your position and implements suggestions.
P.S. I’m an employee who is not hiding out off the desk ;)
-

You are right, but here there are a lot of users asking for this! And other users are no there to write but i'm sure they are a lot.
Re: linking to "hiding on the desk" -- sorry if this is not your case, but in the past, that was the use case as explained by other users.
No problem! You don't need to be sorry, i'm a guy and i only would let You know my ideas. If you don't agree with me it's not a problem! We can be friends anyway :)

Sorry mate, but Outlook on Mac have same quoting header format and style of Outlook for Windows.
Here an image found on internet:
That option has no sense if it isn't exact to original Outlook, imho.
Sorry, but why make this option if it doesn't do The pourpose/name It was created for?
I think and hope you can take your time to make this 3 simple changes/improvements. More It Will bring you more payment customers, because this would be The unique app on ios and Android that look like Outlook desktop. Why would you lose this opportunity and more possible money?
Hope you can reconsider It, It would be great for us and you! Make your customers happy :P

Re: Outlook on Mac have same quoting header format and style of Outlook for Windows
Wow, imagine that.
And Thunderbird on Mac has same quoting header format as Thunderbird on Linux.
---
Please try -- in addition to selecting "Outlook format" in AquaMail settings -- also:
- Quoting features (this is just below) -> turn off "indent replies" and turn on "abbreviated recipients" and "horizontal line".
Now Outlook 2016 is even weirder. It shows a horizontal line *while composing the reply* but it's not there when the message is sent.
So Outlook 2016 is not even consistent with earlier Outlook versions.
