Title: Set up for instant email arrival and notification like Gmail app
Post by: dagrev on January 29, 2015, 03:52:05 pm
Hello,

Wow.  I've tried about every email app on my Samsug G4 and Aqua Mail is it!  Nice looking and adjustable fonts sold me.

My apologies if this has been covered, but I searched and didn't find the answer--but may not have known what to look for.

I'm trying to figure out how (if its possible) to set up Aqua Mail to instantly have email arrive and notify like the Gmail app and the native Samsung email app does.  In other words, when an email is received via those there is no delay in waiting for it to "sync" to get the email and notify, it happens almost as quickly as it's sent.

So my question is how can this be achieved in Aqua, or can it?  Does it require forcing it syncing once a minute or so?

Thanks so much, and sorry if this has been covered.

Yes, there is support for push mail for IMAP accounts.

Please see the FAQ (link below, in my signature) under "How do I enable IMAP Push".

In short: long press the account -> options and folders -> account options -> turn on "IMAP push".

Thanks.  I have enabled IMAP  push.  That box is checked.  Do I need to stop it from syncing because it only gets email at the 5 minute interval I sent to sync.

Also I changed the back button to exit the program rather than the default folder view.  How else can I see the folder view you mentioned?
Thanks

There are three levels of push settings: app global (initially enabled), per-account (initially disabled, that's where you need to enable it) and per-folder (initially enabled for Inbox, disabled for others).

Please make sure you've enabled the per-account setting.

To get back to the account list: swipe out the navigation drawer, top item is "< Account list" (back to...).

Keep scheduled sync enabled, for the other folders, but I'd say turn it down to the default "every 15 minutes".

Got it working.  I just reinstalled it as I couldn't do what you suggested via those commands for some reason.

Thank you very much for your help and time.

Great email app.  I can't imagine why it isn't the most used by a huge margin.  Great job!
