Heya
I currently have the latest version of Aquamail with Pro Unlocker. Until today it worked. I have 2 email addresses that i use. Both email addresses have the exact settings. The one i use all the time has stopped working giving the error Error Synchronizing Mail: Network Error. The other email works though. Ive tried it with my stock email program for samsung s4 and it works fine. Break it down, With aquamail I can send emails but i cannot receive(but only for 1 of the 2 emails. The one i use the most doesnt work) other email programs i can receive from both emails. Ive tried a reinstall and it still has the same problem.
Is this a common error??
Thanks
Steve

I have the same kind of problem. I have 3 emails addresses and my yahoo one has stopped working since yesterday (Jan. 12 at 9:50PM eastern Canada time). I tried to reconfigure the yahoo address but I get the same message error.
Any idea how to fix this issue?
Thanks,
Nicolas

Please have a look into this news:
http://www.aqua-mail.com/?p=1981
Is your account configured as POP3 or IMAP?
Are you using different accounts or multiple email addresses within the same account (aliases)?
Please post the exact error message.
Thank you, this will help further investigate!

Ive tried moving and erasing mail from the web mail system with no avail. Apparently Rogers and Yahoo are having problems. They wont even answer their phones at customer service.
-
My Yahoo account is configured as IMAP.
When I do the manual configuration, I don't get any error message.
But when I check emails, I get the message: Error Synchronizing Mail: Network Error
Thanks,
Nicolas
-
Another piece of information...
I tried to configure the account with POP3 instead of IMAP and it works.

How do i change it to pop3? When i press and hold the email account that is not working it only showz imap and its greyed out. I dont think i can change it. The only thing that bugs me is that my mail works on stock mail app with galaxy s4 and bluemail works. Only thing is i like aquamail and wanna stick with it. Will keep holding off see if yahoo ever fixes the problem
-
I don't think that you can change it from IMAP to POP3. Just add a new account.
-
Ive deleted and moved new and old email through the web email and through aqua mail; didnt work.
-
I've tried to set up my yahoo account with the default email app (Samsung S4) and it works. So I don't think it is a Yahoo problem.

My Aqua Mail went down yesterday after Verizon-Samsung auto-updated the software on my Note 3....

For those still searching for an answer....
After deleting messages until there were none left on my note 3, changing the account (imap) password, and finally reinstalling my old K9 mail app which worked fine, the Aqua Mail refresh/sync problems ceased... However it is hard to believe it wasn't related to the Verizon/Samsung update 18 hours ago....

I am having the same problem. I've tried changing my password, deleting and adding back the account, deleting emails and folders on webmail and no change. Please help.
I am using Motorola Droid Razr Maxx, Android 4.4.2
Exact error message is "Error Synchronizing mail: Network Error"
I have two yahoo accounts, one gmail and one hotmail. I am only experiencing this error on ONE of the Yahoo accounts.

Which webmail provider are you using?

It appears the difference between what you did and I what I did was that I reinstalled my old K-Mail email program... I am not familiar with "web mail" but I suggest installing K9-Mail to download all your emails... and try then try Aquamail again.
As I recall, I had Aquamail active while I was downloading from K9-Mail.... I am not a software geek, but K9-Mail may have supplied the missing but required "deficiency" in Aquamail.

And as an addendum.... I my email account is imap... JWegge

Yes, it's on Yahoo's side, and it needs to be fixed there.
It's so nice of Yahoo to not provide any support, only a "community forum where you questions will be answered by other users like you" (maybe I should stop support too... oh wait, I guess only multibillion corporations with celebrity CEOs can do that...?)
Please see below:
http://www.aqua-mail.com/?p=1981
Apple Mail is also affected, looks like same issue (look at the number of posts and their times / dates):
https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20150114021156AA4PjIX
There is no "deficiency" here -- the IMAP command used in Aqua is perfectly valid, has worked with Yahoo from 2010 (!!!) until now, and continues to work with all other IMAP mail services known to man or woman.
I have not had a single report of this issue until yesterday when I got 4 or 5 messages, and about a dozen today. Yahoo must be doing a "staged" (gradual) update.
As for K9 -- IMAP is a rich protocol, and has many command and many ways to use them.
If it so happens that K9 doesn't use the command that Yahoo broke -- well, good for them -- but there is no guarantee that Yahoo (or some other mail service) won't break something used by K9, Kaiten, Boxer, or any other mail app, mobile or desktop. And then the tables will turn.
And to reiterate -- Apple Mail is also affected, apparently they are using same IMAP command to ask the server for the list of unread messages in a folder.
---
Now that being said, I made this test build where I replaced one perfectly valid IMAP command with another perfectly valid IMAP command. Maybe Yahoo's server will be able to process that other one?

You can update in-place without a full reinstall.
Update: does not help, details below, two messages down.
Another update (January 15): looks like Yahoo has recognized the issue and started to implement a fix. Fingers crossed :)

Tried the new apk download above. Didnt work. Said Invalid server response. Can i uninstall that apk i just downlowded?
-
I kind of figured it was a yahoo thing since it just randomly stopped working and my other two accounts (work and gmail) are still working perfectly. I too have tried deleting and re-adding the account and even tried uninstalling and installing aquamail again. I tried the apk download and that didn't work for me either. I appreciate you spending time on this when it is clearly a yahoo problem and not a problem with the app. Support for this app is amazing. I'm sure yahoo will get this sorted eventually.
So you think it's fine to leave the apk that I downloaded from above? I'm not sure how I'd go about uninstalling it anyway. I've deleted it from the downloads folder.
-
Thank you for the support. I just tried the new apk file. Still getting an error message but now it is an invalid server response error message
-
Yes, I changed the wording in the error message on my side.
Other than that, it must mean that the issue is not in Yahoo's IMAP command parser (where it would be particular about the syntax) but rather is in the message store back-end (which has to come up with the requested data).
Oh well, I tried.
For those wishing to go back to "official" Google Play version (although it should not be necessary), here it is:
http://www.aqua-mail.com/download/AquaMail-market-1.5.1.12.apk
A temporary workaround is to use POP3, for this you'll need to add the same account into Aqua again, choosing Manual setup (after entering email / password) and changing IMAP to POP3 near the top of the next screen.
-
My yahoo account has started working again. Note that I'm using the apk that Kostya posted a few posts ago, not the play store version. I'm guessing it doesn't make a difference at this point so I'll stick with this one. Thanks a lot, for the support, Kostya.
-
Yep, there is no difference with this issue as far as my code goes (Play version vs. attempted fix), although there are a few accumulated bug fixes / changes since the release.
As far as Yahoo goes, I'm starting to see reports of "started working" on the Apple Mail thread in Yahoo Communities.
So they (Yahoo) must have noticed and started to implement a fix.
-
Well, now it's back down again. Lol. Yahoo is all messed up right now.
-
On my end everything works now. Thanks for the quick replies. Ill never leave Aquamail. Keep up the good work.
-
I'm getting mixed reports today.
A few users reported that it's working again, and a few emails from others about how it's broken.
Maybe Yahoo needs to do something on a case by case basis to fix the affected accounts -- while the staged deployment that produces the bug continues to roll forward. That would be the worst, hope it's not like that.
For anyone still seeing this, I encourage to "register" your issue on this Apple Mail thread, which has a Yahoo employee or two there.

It's back to normal since this am. Don't know what happened, but I'm glad it's working.

Yahoo came back to business this morning but as of 4.30 PM EST it stopped working again with the same error

Fresh discussion about Apple Mail, this time on Apple's support site.

-
I just had an idea for those still seeing this issue.
How about using Yahoo web mail to mark all -- including old -- messages as "read"?
-
Heya. It stopped working again. Tried above of marking all email even old mail as read. No dice. Just a waiting game now for yahoo.
-
Mine was working yesterday evening but stopped again today... Ugh.
-
Given that this keeps dragging on, I'm going to try to implement a workaround, and post here... But not happy about it at all, for the following reasons:
- With a workaround in place, we'll never know if this is ever fixed on Yahoo's side
- At the same time, since this also breaks Apple Mail, the changes are of a fix are pretty good
- I would rather not release Google Play updates without a good test period, and there have been other changes since the release
- There is a reason why my code asks the server for the list of unread messages, not just their count -- to properly handle the unread count for messages that have been moved to the device-only Deleted folder. Not the case with Yahoo, as their server always has a Deleted folder, but it's there in the code as a general mechanism.

This build has a new workaround attempt.

This fix worked for me. Thanks a lot, Kostya! Says a lot about you when this really isn't even a problem with your app.
-
Awesome!!!
If I can get a 2-3 more confirmations, then then plan is going to be:
1) post this fix into the "beta" channel tonight and
2) promote to full release this weekend.
-
Hello!
Your latest fix worked! Thank You!
-
It worked for me as well... I am back up and running. Thanks again for your assistance! Nice to see such great support.
-
This new one worked for me too. Thanks brother.

Unfortunately, I just installed the update, and it still doesn't work for me - same error.

@DallasFlier well, it was a "magic" fix anyway, but I would appreciate a debug log from your account / folder.
-
The "magic" is working for me just fine.
Thanks for fix.

Be happy to! Can you point me to directions on where to find that debug log?

Thank you @Dallas.
Yep, same issue, and unfortunately the workaround isn't helping in *your* account / folder.
For the record, the workaround is:
Instead of asking the server for the list of "all unread messages", for Yahoo the code asks for "all unread messages received since January 1, 1900". The date is arbitrary, should make no practical difference.
I'm sorry to see that it didn't work in your account folder... you'll have to wait for Yahoo's fix...
-
1.5.1.13 with this fix published to Google Play as a "beta":
http://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?topic=3221.0
If all goes well, I'll release it for all users in a couple of days (or maybe Yahoo will get their act together by then).
-
It worked for me Kostya!!
Great work.
Thank you from Argentina!!
;)

Sadly, I am one of the 25% I guess. I tried the beta, no love. Still get "Invalid server response". I sent you a log debug report. If I try the "create a new pop3 account" method, when this gets fixed, can I just delete that one? And how do I check that this one is Imap?
Thanks. Love the app.

Yes, you can just delete the POP account after. I had actually set my yahoo account up twice, one with POP and one with IMAP. It defaults to IMAP but you can check by long pressing on the account and clicking account setup and then manual. At the top it will say IMAP. It will be greyed out and you will not be able to change it but you will be able to specify it if you set up as a new account. You can leave the IMAP version set up if you don't want to delete it.

I have a new version with a different workaround.
It's a compromise (won't be able to subtract any hidden messages from a folder's total unread count), but, on the other hand...
... I hope it might work where 1.5.1.13 didn't.
@makoti, feel free to try:
But if 1.5.1.13 worked for you, just keep it, don't update.
http://www.aqua-mail.com/download/AquaMail-market-1.5.1.14.1.apk
I *think* what I'm going to do is:
- Promote 1.5.1.13 to "general release for everyone" tomorrow, since it works for about 3/4 of the users
- Keep a link to the 1.5.1.14.1 on my web site, for those less fortunate ones
-
Yes, the Yahoo specific changes in both of these versions are only for when Yahoo is detected (by their server's initial greeting message).
For example:
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 ID NAMESPACE X-ID-ACLID UIDPLUS LITERAL+ CHILDREN XAPPLEPUSHSERVICE XYMHIGHESTMODSEQ AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=LOGIN AUTH=XOAUTH2 AUTH=XYMCOOKIE AUTH=XYMECOOKIE AUTH=XYMCOOKIEB64 AUTH=XYMPKI] IMAP4rev1 imapgate-1.8.1_01.61594 imap436.mail.ir2.yahoo.com

Just posted another "alternative workaround", under Development Builds, the version is 1.5.1.15-y1.
http://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?topic=3226.0
Should work for everyone, even where 1.5.1.13 didn't.
Drawback:
The per-folder unread counter will not include old messages beyond the "messages to sync" (default setting is "25 newest messages per folder", account level setting).
That is, only actually kept up to date (synced) messages will contribute to each folder's unread counter.
Worth installing if 1.5.1.13 didn't fix the issue.
If 1.5.1.13 works for you, then keep that one.

If you had this issue and 1.5.1.13 fixed it for you, I would appreciate if you could post a review in Google Play :) -- to counter the "app stopped working with Yahoo" negativity that's building up there.
( is "karma whore" the right expression here? )

Neither 1.5.1.13 or your 1st workaround .14 worked for me, but this one did.
Thanks for your attention & perseverance! Off to post a review next...

Glad to hear it, thanks!
