Title: How do I add a second (backup) outgoing smtp server?
Post by: pdlee on January 14, 2013, 02:09:24 am
Hi, I'm having a problem where I can either put my virgin media smtp settings in but cant send e mail via 3G or can put O2 smtp settings in but cant send e mail via wi-fi.

Is there anyway to add both outgoing servers in aqua mail to avoid having to turn wi fi off to send an e mail when at home?

Thanks.

I have the identical problem. Does using identities solve this??  Cannot test on free version.

In all the years of using email (think my first ones were in 1993!) I'm not sure if I've come across any applications (Desktop or otherwise) that's ever supported that sort of multiserver configuration.

I could be wrong, but...

Yes, an identity should solve it, it's possible for an identity to share the outgoing mail server or have its own.

Replying would be a bit of a hassle (having to choose an identity), but it's a workaround.

( I wonder what those ISPs / mail providers are thinking? "here is your email service, part of our $99.95 special package, but you can only use it while on our network... traveling, at the office, went outside? why would you want to do that?" )

Seriously, I might get around to it sooner or later, but so far, there are more pressing things to work on.
