Kostya,
Originally I thought this was a limitation of IMAP but having seen a recent reply you made to another post I'm not so sure.
Simply put, I have 2 devices, but the message read state is not being persisted across both devices, even after a sync on both. So, emails are read on one device, synced up but even after a sync on the second device they're still showing as unread on that 2nd device.
Thanks!

Time for a good old fashioned bump! 8)

I certainly is! :)
Can you verify that you're using IMAP on both devices, and also check web mail to see what's there on the server?
Also if you long press an account in the account list, and choose the bottom item (Diag: message dates), the app will generate a log of recent message data as seen through IMAP. This includes message flags, not just dates.
If you do this on both devices, that should help establish what's going on. You can email those logs to me, or to yourself, they're pretty easy to understand -- \Seen means a message is "read", and "urnead" otherwise.

Will do. Thanks!
