Title: No login to SMTP on A1.net
Post by: dosser on November 21, 2014, 09:02:57 pm
Hello

I can't login to my A1 SMTP account.
IMAP is working perfect.

the settings for A1 are:

IMAP
Incoming-server: securemail.a1.net (Port 993 - Verbindungstyp SSL)
Outgoing-server: securemail.a1.net (Port 25 - Verbindungstyp STARTTLS)

Hope someone has a solution for this.

regards

PS:

I tried GMX, HOTMAIL, GMAIL, EXCHANGE .. all worked perfect. Only A1.net makes trouble

This one doesn't use SSL at 465, it's STARTTLS with either port 25 or 587.

@dosser -- please try "STARTTLS" + port 587.

If doesn't help, please try removing the domain from your login on the outgoing server settings screen -- i.e. change "user@a1net" to "user".

If that doesn't help either, please post the exact, complete, error message -- a screenshot would be perfect.

I can't find your feedback ;-)

There is no bug.

You need to use whatever settings are right for this particular mail provider.

1) securemail.a1.net with SSL + port 465 (standard) --> no connection

2) securemail.a1.net + port 587 (no encryption or STARTTLS) --> server closes connection immediately upon initial connect

Why does it do that? Is a1.net also a home Internet provider, only allowing connections from inside their own network?

3) securemail.a1.net + port 25 (no encryption or STARTTLS) --> connects, prompts to log in, but

Port 25 is commonly blocked by home / mobile Internet providers, for "security" reasons (real or imagined).

None of the above has anything to do with AquaMail, specifically.

i tried all recommendations and all possible settings without any success  >:(

in k9-mail these settings are working without errors:

smtp.a1.net - port 25 - no encryption

but in aquamail the same setting are not working. So i can't believe the problem ist at a1.net.

but k9 can't handle activesync, so i would like to use aquamail. but without smtp on a1.net its useless for me.

Maybe you could capture the issue in a debug log?

It's getting harder and harder to keep guessing without actually seeing what's going on (and "not working" isn't something that really helps, sorry).
