Hello,
I have AquaMail on 2 devices. I'm wondering how I can get it to work like this: using only IMAP, when an email arrives and I mark it as read, I'd like the notification to be gone from the other device as well.
Right now I have to dismiss the notification on the other device too.
-
If you are using IMAP, then the second device should get updated after it checks mail -- which will pull the new *marked read* message states from the server -- and update or clear its notifications (if there is now nothing to notify about).
-
I'm only used a scheduled mail check at 00:00 for safety. I guess to make it work like I described I'd have to have it check mail very often then? Mh :d
-
The default is every 15 minutes, and I'm not seeing any significant battery drain even with 4-5 accounts... Maybe 30 minutes would be a good balance?
-
It's not really about battery, but when I tried that, (30 mins intervals) I had sooo many errors that went like "Too many authentications" or something along those lines. Disabling the scheduled checks fixed it.

This is likely not an error with AquaMail but rather on the server side.

Must be a Gmail account?
Gmail has a limit on how many connections it allows at the same time -- counting all mail apps (except Google's own) on all devices and all platforms (mobile, desktop, etc.)
And my app is very honest with reporting errors.
Usually, though, you might run into it with too many folders in push mode (each requires a connection) and/or network disconnects (e.g. elevators, underground parking lot at the office, or just poor mobile data coverage).
Scheduled mail checks use only one server connection per account, although that can disconnect too, subject to same causes.
Can you check that you're not using push mail for this account? Sounds like you prefer scheduled mail sync.
To check: long press the account in Aqua -> options and folders -> account options.

Yes I am using push on inbox only, on both devices. Only one folder being pushed, sent and trash is scheduled.
Some days ago when I was messing with scheduling every 15 - 30 mins, I couldn't find a way to get it without that error.
(Yes, I know it's stupid to sync the same account on two devices of mine lol, but whatever)
-
No, it's perfectly fine to have the same account on multiple devices. Why, I do it all the time, sometimes even before I've had breakfast (lame joke).
You mentioned an error -- if you would like to get help with that, please be more specific (what happened, what did the error message say, etc.)
-
This is what I get when I try to use both devices simultaneously with AquaMail

If you only have one folder in push mode, on two devices, that should be fine, so something's not right.
Could be caused by one or both of these devices losing network connectivity too often.
Or by a desktop mail app that tries to use push mail with as many folders as it sees, using up all available (15) connections.
Or maybe a battery saving app that disconnects the network when the phone goes to sleep.
Those are my guesses.
