I was able to set up my first gmail IMAP account without any problems.
When setting up the 2nd account i ran into problems and keep getting this error.
"Incoming mail server (IMAP): Authentication error. NO Web login required.
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Authentication error. 534 5.7.14 <accounts.google.com/ContinueSignIn?sarp=1&scc=1&plt=AKgnsbuwr 534 5.7.14 OGM89UrXTeTpgtvp3Nmknl7HM7B5SAxPofS3u8uQkxa8by-PGntBckfmCAiqFrBtfDo9TQ 534 5.7.14 Lw5MwqgZ_f3bvoipmmwOkjbuWiZGMxxxQVcGNkNMXYCyinxqL19KXzgcjFaClkOFTduDN9 534 5.7.14 prFJdFUQngEl4EECUfU7-35HIqYlmsOrGDacfpCVxFkajKsWWUGHUOd3WtbUAJLcSK9KY7 534 5.7.14 ga79y0g> Please log in via your web browser and then try again. 534 5.7.14 Learn more at 534 5.7.14 support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?answer=78754 up5sm13812068pac.8 - gsmtp"
i can log in via the browser without any problems.
IMAP: imap.gmail.com | SSL (any) | 993 | Prefer compability
SMTP: smtp.gmail.com | SSL (any) | 465 | Choose Automatically
i've gone through the forums and tried a few different things but none has worked so far. What HAS worked is if i set up 2 step authentication on my gmail and it goes through fine. I have now removed that
Things i have tried:
- IMAP: Using SSL (any) and also STARTTLS (any)
- STMP: Combinations of SSL or STARTTLS and the different SASL Plain and SASL Login
- tried my username without the '@gmail.com' saw on another post.
help much appreciated.

after 2 to 3 days testing everything before i posted this, i have JUST found the solution.
I think...
I had to change the settings on here; as google sent me an email about blocking access to my gmail with the following link by chance...
//www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps
Some devices and apps use insecure sign-in technology to access your data.
Choosing Disable prevents these less secure devices and apps from accessing your Google Account.
Choosing Enable increases your chances of unauthorised account access but allows you to continue using these less secure devices and apps. Learn more
