Title: missing emails in [Deleted] folder
Post by: aromweis on August 23, 2014, 11:19:02 pm
Hi all. The situation: I deleted a bunch of emails on my laptop from my Gmail account using Thunderbird . I later realized I needed one of those emails and fired up AM on my Android tablet. However, the [Deleted] folder on AM only shows *some* of the emails I deleted earlier from my laptop. Looking at Gmail directly or via Thunderbird, I can see all the deleted emails in the Gmail Trash folder. Not sure if this is relevant, but in the [Deleted] folder, I can see 3 out of 8 deleted email that are dated today, then the next date visible is Aug 12, 2014. In Gmail, there are about 250 emails in Trash that come between those 3 mentioned above and the Aug 12 ones. Of those missing 250, I deleted about 40-50 today via the laptop.

- In AM, my Gmail/Trash folder is set to synch with the [Deleted] folder.
- I tried manually synching the [Deleted] folder many times but the email list doesn't change.
- I tried deleting and recreating my AM acct but that had no effect.
- Running 1.4.0.53 Pro

Am I missing something here? Thanks for any help or pointers.

Sounds like the order of messages on the server got messed up. Always a problem for a mobile mail app that tries to load just the recent messages (others too).

Two possible workarounds:

- Keep scrolling down the Deleted and tapping "load 25 more"... This will only persist until next mail check.

- Long press the account -> options and folders -> account options. Change "messages to sync" from "Default (25)" to some date-range-based value, like 10 days (you'll see it after tapping the setting). Refresh the account.

Thanks for the super quick reply! Your first suggestion solved the issue. I had to load more msgs 2x to see the one I was looking for. This workaround is good enough so I won't change the defaults.
