Title: Conversation Thread Grouping
Post by: GeekyDad on June 22, 2014, 12:27:08 am
I know this has been requested many times. Is there any chance a conversation thread/grouping feature will make it into the next AquaMail release? That's the only thing I miss from other mail clients. It would make AquaMail complete for me. :-)

Yes, it has been requested many times just like about a dozen other major features and many more lesser ones.

I'm in the middle of rolling out 1.4, and it's not in this release, and won't be in the next one (1.5) either.

Sorry if this is disappointing, but I just try to do my best, and so on and so forth....

A lot was written here about the threading of messages and why it gets postponed. So far I'm overcoming the lack of it by tap-hold-copying a trailing part of message subject (which follow the last of "()[]:" characters, because the leading part gets literally scrambled by a mix of various email clients and mailing lists), exiting the message and searching for messages according to the string. I know, not exactly a conversation thread according to IDs and IRTs, but much faster and more convenient than scrolling through loads of messages and trying to notice similar subjects.

Today (well, already testerday) I've noticed the 1.5's definitions of swipe commands for message list. Seeing the simple and straightforward option to search according to a mail's sender address, I think that it could be pretty useful to be able to similarly search according to the mail's subject. And it could also neatly plug into the swipe concept ;)

Hi,

maybe this helps when implementing threading:

I think Kostya knows how to do it but he has just no time for it.
