Big problem. Aquamail just used nearly a gig of my data in very short order when I wasn't using it.
I have my phone set to limit/stop my data connection on my phone when it reaches close to my monthly limit. In Canada data plans are very expensive... Mine has 1 gig of data per month which is always good. This morning my data was disabled. The phone (nexus 5) showed that Aquamail used 850MB of data in a very short time... minutes not hours. I wasn't using the app during that time.

Sorry about this.
Did you change the app's settings recently?
I could investigate if you collected a debug log (as below), with "raw session data" enabled.
I'd need the log to capture your refreshing (checking mail in) your accounts, at the very least -- or maybe you could leave the app running in the background for 2-3 hours (exiting its UI with the Back key).
This can be done on WiFi, which hopefully does not have a limit like your mobile plan.

I changed nothing. I'll enable debug and see if this happens again. However I will need to find an app that lets me track with data. Especially since that's all I can use now till the end of the month.
Thanks,
BillR

Hi. Was there a solution to this? My wife's phone has just done something very similar, if not quite to the same extent.

No solution unfortunately. Even worse, it didn't happen again for a long time so I turned debug off. But it just did it again and sucked up almost a gig of bandwidth. Something is definitely going on if it isn't just me. I turned debug on again and am looking at k-9 again to see if they improved their folder support.

There are development builds with one specific scenario for IMAP fixed.
Unless you were running this build, or installed it to see if it fixes things for you -- and if already were, provided a debug log -- please don't say things like "no solution".

Not happy can't find a resolution !
Worse still I've got no data left !

This has to be something else -- the original issue in this discussion was fixed a long time ago.
I did get your email and already responded.
