Title: In line attachments are not forwarded.
Post by: someone on March 20, 2014, 07:09:09 am
Some emails come with attachments that appear within the message and not separately in the attachment section. When these emails are forwarded the title of the attachment is forwarded as text but not the attachment itself.

Are you talking about inline images?

Those should be preserved when you're editing your response (in the area below) and sent as such....

.... unless you've used the "pencil" icon on the right of the panel separating new and old content (in the reply)

... in which case the two (new and old content) will be merged together as plain text.

In this case, the images are lost, and you'll see whatever text/plain content there was in the original message.

It's conceivable that some mail apps would put something like "[image: a kissing frog.jpg]" in text/plain content at the same spot where an the actual image was in the text/html content.

Does this explain what you're seeing?

Glad to see you back. We all appreciate what you've done and wish you the very best.

That is exactly what I'm seeing. If I edit the quoted message it is transformed into plain text and the inline image is lost.

Is it not possible to edit the text of the forwarded message without losing the inline image in it? I sometimes edit the forwarded email to remove parts of it I don't want to forward. I should be able to do this without losing the inline image.  No?

Well, in theory yes, but in reality - I just don't happen to have a rich text editor that can handle arbitrary HTML content...

OK. I was used to it in Thunderbird so I only discovered it didn't happen that way in Am.

I can live with it now that I know.

Gmail and stock Email are the same way...

Thunderbird has HTML editing code from way back, web mail can rely on HTML editors (there are a few)...
