Title: Only mark for deletion without expunge on Server (IMAP)

Hello,

I am using my IMAP inbox with thunderbird and outlook as follows:
 - on deletion, the mail is maked as deleted on the server, but the folder is not expunged.
 - all deleted mails are still visible, but the text striked through.
 - I can revert the deleteion by "delete" it again.
 - sometimes I expunge the folder manually

Is this possible with Aqua-Mail?
 - how to setup the account, to mark the mails for deletion, but never expunge the folder?
 - how to setup the view to display deleted items striked through?
 - how to un-delete deleted mails?
 - the expunge thing is not neccessary, because I will only execute it from the thunderbird client.

Alex,

The app does have a setting to not expunge messages, on a per-account basis, in Options and Folders.

Even though this feature has been tested, and is used by someone else (I think... he requested it), you may want to try it out first on a folder that does not have important messages marked with \Deleted. You know, just to be safe.

Deleted messages are not shown though and there is no undelete.

Hi,

I'm in the same situation as Alex. I've tested the setup you suggested. It mostly works, except for one thing.

When I delete a message in AquaMail, it shows up struck-out in Thunderbird - so far so good. Suppose I decide it was deleted in error, and undelete it. The problem is, AquaMail a) never shows the message again, and what's worse, it b) keeps re-deleting the message every time it refreshes the folder. I could perhaps live with a), but b) defeats the whole point.

AquaMail should ideally sync Deleted flag from IMAP server. Every other email client I've ever used does this.

Yes, please stop re-deleting undeleted emails. And possibly add an option to view deleted emails in the current folder.

I'll look into why the delete flag having been removed in Thunderbird does not propagate back into the app. Thanks.

I fixed the app setting \Deleted over and over again in today's dev build:

This should also take care of sync not being able to restore messages where \Deleted is cleared on the server ("should" because I was unable to get Thunderbird to show me \Deleted messages...)

To have Thunderbird show deleted messages, go to Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings, and under "When I delete a message" choose "Just mark it as deleted".
