When I compose an email using AquaMail either on my phone or tablet and I read that message using Windows Live Mail, the font looks like Wingdings and the message is completely unreadable. Reading with Thunderbird the message looks correct. What could be causing this? Is it a setting in WLM? I can't find any settings in WLM to fix this. Is there a setting in AquaMail I should change? Very confused about this. It only occurs when I compose an email using AquaMail.
Thanks in advance,
Bruce

Answered my own question. Finally found the secret decoding configuration. In Windows Live Mail, select Options->Mail-, then on the Read tab click on Fonts. Select Unicode for the font and then Unicode (UTF-8) for Encoding.
As I found variability from email app to app, it seems it might be a good idea to allow configuration of encoding. Dunno... maybe UTF-8 is pretty standard these days. Anyway, there it is.

My app sets the charset in messages it sends (you should be able to see it in Thunderbird, it's Content-Type: text/plain (or text/html); charset=<charset here>).
There is a per-account setting for the charset to use, the default is to try a locale-specific charset (e.g. Western European, or Cyrillic) with a fallback to UTF-8, but you can change it.
