I hate combing through forums trying to get answers to basic set up questions. Forums should be for specific problems people can't figure out. Where is the help / manual that just guides me through how to set up my email? Different kinds of sync, push or not, global and folder settings, setting the number of messages to download, etc
Thanks!
Cindi

Edit by Kostya: the manual is a link a few messages down

Cindi,
Is this not part of the Q&A's within the app?
I think a LOT of things are answered within those "pages", but there are always going to be "new questions" which no-one had thought of, and to write a manual containing EVERYTHING would be an unachievable task.
Just my 2 penneth :-)

There is an FAQ on the main site.
As for a manual that guides through adding an account, most of the time, it's pretty simple: Menu -> Add account -> enter name/email/password, press Next.
If that doesn't work because there is no preset for your particular mail service, try Manual account setup mode and enter mail service specific settings (to be found on the mail service's help pages).

I agree with Condi. I've worked with aqua mail for a while but still don't know how to create new folders not how to filter messages by sender, spam etc. FAQs did not address these concerns.

Creating user documentation for software is a challenging task. True, you cannot provide an answer for every use case, and sometimes the author of the app is too close and familiar with "everyday tasks" to create a truly user-focussed document, without assumptions that are, for him, 'wired in'. In some respects the task is just as daunting as writing the software and sometimes a great deal less fun.
On top of this, phone apps tend to have rather slim documentation, compared with desktops, but aquamail is heading into the space between these, so needs some how-to documentation for a few things, but 'just works' for most tasks.
However, some of the best "user documentation" I have used has been (in a way) crowd-sourced. I frequently find myself asking "using blahblah software, how do I do x".
For open source projects, particularly, multiple authors have solved a problem, in a format that poses a question, or set of related questions, and then provides step by step answers.
Although AM is not open source, I don't see why the same approach could not apply.
It would ideally need a framework - a wiki or something, ideally, to hang it all together, but for now, the "how do I..." part of this forum is not a bad place to start.
The difference is: At present most threads there kick off with a question, that may or may not get answered. It needs more answers from users, I think.
Why not, if someone knows how to do something that hadn't been written up before (because you know how, and never had to ask), write it up and post it there? There are some 'tutorial' items there already. It just needs a few more, from the users that have quietly mastered everything, for the benefit if the rest of us (who still need a little help).
Not sure if it would be possible to make some of these 'sticky', the better to find them.
Just my 2pence worth, and kostya may disagree, as is his right of course!

Looks useful. Would it be worth kostya making a version of this sticky in the "how do I" forum?

Good idea.
Even though the document is mostly the FAQ with some collected screenshots, it's very well organized and formatted, and it's easy to search the whole thing at once.
Thanks!
And yes, I made it a sticky.

you are welcome.
Your client is not suitable for a beginner, on the other hand offers so much more than those offered by manufacturers of smartphones.
I've read the guide after I configured a corporate account, but I found it equally useful.
If my English was better, I would develop further, but for now I think it is very useful as well.

Well, for the sheer number of settings you can thank my Russian "alpha" testers (before the app was ready for Google Play, I used to post it on a forum)... Those guys wanted a setting for every little thing :)

here last version, with correct name (Aquamail instead of Aqua Mail) and some mistakes removed...
You can download and manage in your site without problem, it is your property ;)

There is an FAQ on the main site.
I can't find the FAQ. Got URL?
I'm wanting to know how to delete 3500 emails.
Thanks, Kerry

(It doesn't make much sense to post the same question to different parts of this forum.)
Last item in the app's menu brings you to the FAQ.

You will find the link to the FAQ in your second thread:

I have searched for this answer and can't find a way to delete all messages at once in my bulk folder ..there are hundreds..
-
Open the folder, then Menu -> Delete all.
The Menu may be a hardware button (outside the screen) or the "three dots" icon, top right.
-
find a way to delete all messages at once in my bulk folder
I assumed that "bulk" meant "spam" ("junk" etc) here.
-
That's what I was afraid of, it takes so long to delete only page by page.. Maybe a future fix of this would be nice, thanks :)

Open the folder, then Menu -> Select all -> Move to Deleted
Beforehand
Go to App Settings > Message list > scroll down to option "Select 'All' means" > choose "Loaded messages" (instead of "Visible messages")
One more point:
Please see also the FAQ (http://www.aqua-mail.com/?page_id=227), specifically the item:
"Select All' function selects only one screen full of emails, instead of all"
[... search in page for "Select all"]

Thank you @Paris Geek:
That's correct. 8)
There are some more information and details for this specific 'edge case' in this thread / post(s):

For the spam folder, you can delete all messages without having to "select / delete / repeat" by:
long pressing it (the folder, on the app's main screen) and choose "delete all"
or by opening the folder's message list and doing Menu (three dots) and "delete all"
It should also be possible to do this easily in web mail (without the messages loading into AquaMail at all), which is going to be faster than using any mail app.

We lost the actual link, it was a PDF hosted at DropBox. Turning off the "sticky".
