Title: [SOLVED] Account rename
Post by: kRel on December 20, 2012, 02:12:03 pm
The e-mail are important to me, and Aquamail Pro-version takes up half main screen of my tablet.
For privacy reasons I can hide or change my account name displayed ?
Unless I'm mistaken the "Account rename" - even I change the two values - HAS NO EFFECT.
Do I have to reebot? Or something wrong? Thanks

Hi,

I just confirmed on my Galaxy Nexus that renaming an account is instantaneous.

Perhaps a debug log may be required ...

Renaming account works well to...
What can't change is the name, including "@gmail.com" in main screen

Ok solved!
It's necessary delete the widget, then recreate it, giving the name you want to appear.

Yes, a widget will remember its label, just in case it's something like "my favorite mail account" and not the automatically picked default...

So then, I think you're actually saying the email account rename screen has a bug.  The user cannot really rename an existing email account after it is initially set up. ???

You can rename an account and in the list of accounts, and all various views (new messages notification, etc.) the new name will appear. But in case of the widget, - it is essentially a name of the widget pointing to that account, and it will not change when you are renaming the account to which that widget is linked.
(I am not using widgets, so, something with respect to the widget behavior might have changed since the original discussion in this old (2012!) thread.)

Re: user cannot rename account

News to me. Please long press on the account on the app's main screen (the list of accounts and folders under them) and choose "rename" from the popup menu.

Re: widgets

True, because it's possible to enter a custom label that's different from the account's name...

After pressing on"Rename" button, only "Your name" and "User name" choices are active, nothing about "Account rename".

Here is what I get. "Your name" and "Account name".

What language do you and have the app in? Maybe bad translation?
