This seems to be a new development and it's driving me crazy. I have Aquamail set to only notify when there are new messages. However, I get the notification icon all the time. It seems like it comes up when anything changes.
Is there any way to correct this?
Thanks!

I second this.
It seems to me that it's been going for quite some time.
It looks like unread messages trigger that.
Just in case it matters, in my case it is imapd server by UW.
I hope aquamail will be fixed soon.

Recent (since about a month ago) development builds have some improvements in this.

Recent (since about a month ago) development builds have some improvements in this.
Is it going to be included in the update (via Google Store) soon?
While I am not a proponent of overly frequent updates, this "feature" is annoying enough that I'd like to have the update.
Thank you!

Most everything is ready for a release, but first I've got to deal with a nasty issue specific to Android 4.4. Really hoping to make it before Christmas.
Feel free to try the latest dev build:

It looks like the recent update somewhat fixed the problem but only partially.
Although not as frequently as before, I still get notifications about new e-mails when there are none. While I am not 100% sure that it is this way always, but I think the synopsis of the situation is as follows:
I get a new message and a notification about it. I follow the notification, see the message list, but do not read the message. The notification disappears (the message is still unread). On the next sync, I get a notification again.
It looks like it happens only if it is the latest message that is unread. And I suspect even if I move it to a different (but "watched") folder, it still triggers the notification the same way.
(Just in case, - the server is UW-imap.)
I hope you can fix this problem as well!
Thank you!

My current task is an entirely new notification logic, built around "truly new" messages. It'll be optional (as usual - there can never be too many checkboxes).
-
Thank you, I (and it looks like many others) would greatly appreciate when it will be working. Hopefully you can complete this soon.

Should be a matter of a few days before I post it as a development build.
Just need to figure out some details about widgets (I would like the message counter widgets to also show the "new" message count, not "all unread" message count, and having a bit of trouble working out the optimal UI flow for when they should get cleared... not a technical issue, a UI design one).

While I expect they you'll make it all configurable, - just in case:
personally, I don't care for the number of unread messages, as in some cases I have hundreds of them in a particular folder, or even in the INBOX.
So, if the number of unread messages can be configured not to be displayed, I'd appreciate that.
The number of new messages, - that is different, and would be nice to see (but not critical).
Thank you!

Was implemented in 1.3.20 (off by default, see app settings -> notifications -> notify about "new messages").

Kostya, I see in the other thread (1.3.20 (updated: 1.3.20.4)) that you are still ironing out some bugs and problems that users experienced after 1.3.20.
So, I've been patiently waiting for 1.3.20* to make its way to Google Play.
Are there any hopes of seeing that happening any time soon?
Thank you!

First, you can install a development build over the released version... you should even get an update notification from Play later on.
Second, I've got one more feature to go before I can release the next update (embedded images).
As for the timeline - it's quite difficult for me to make predictions right now (because of a serious medical problem that left me unable to do any useful work since a few months). One of the possible outcomes is that I'll be meeting Steve Jobs, in person, but then I could ask him to help with honing the app's UI design and feature set. That would be an all around win.

Sorry to hear about your medical problems.
While I appreciate your dark humor, I sincerely hope you'll recover soon.
Is the purchased Pro version unlocker key from G-play compatible with the development build?
-
Thank you. Not sure Mr. Jobs would want to talk to me anyway.
All development builds are signed with the same digital key as Google Play releases, and so 1) are compatible with the unlocker 2) can be installed over any previous version without a full reinstall 3) should get update notifications from Google Play for actual public releases.
