Title: opening aqua mail on samsung and....

The page automatically scrolls at least 10 messages down. I inevitably miss the most recent emails unless I scroll up. Is there a way to set it so upon opening, it starts at the top?

Hmm, well, it should start at the top, weird :)

Do you have a non-default sort order configured for this folder? Can you try resetting it (Menu / Sort / by date time, and then Menu / Sort / Save as default).

What kind of Samsung is it, BTW?
