Title: Messages not deleted from phone when they are deleted from GMail
Post by: hads on May 25, 2013, 02:58:56 am
I have been trying out several Android email clients and I love AquaMail so far.  I am ready to pay for the unlock key, however, I can't solve a problem.

If I delete a message from my phone, it will delete it from the Gmail inbox on my PC.  However, if I delete a message from the Gmail inbox on my PC, it wont remove it from my inbox on my phone.  I read the FAQ about deleting with IMAP, and I think I got the settings right, even though some of the menu items in the FAQ don't correspond to the menu items on my phone.

Any help?

Thanks ... John

I ended up deleting the entire app and starting over and now it works fine.

Great, thanks. The app has a preset for @gmail.com and uses IMAP with the right settings...

I'm having this same problem, though some of the messages I delete on Gmail are gone from AquaMail, but some are not. Any idea of what I could check without reinstalling the app?

Maybe that is a solution:
If you want to have a fast effect, meaning when deleting an email on your PC or web it should be also deleted in short time on AquaMail, you have to set the effected folders as IMAP push. If not the folders will be synchronized in the time you set in the main settings, can be 15 min or 1 hour, etc.

Yes, push helps for the changes to propagate faster, but it's sort of "orthogonal" to the question at hand...

The main thing is to make sure "Remove when deleted" is *checked* in the account's settings (under Options and Folders).

This setting means "remove from the app those messages found to be deleted from the server".
